I was born in Kadiapatanam, a large sea shore village located in the southern most part of India. The entire village was converted to Catholicism by St. Francis Xavier in 1544. The people of the village are highly devoted to Christianity. Like most children in the village, I too, went regularly for the daily mass. When I was studying 4th standard, one day while waiting for the daily mass to begin, our pastor, coming from the confessional asked me to stand up. With fear I stood up thinking that he was going to punish me for some mischief I must have done the previous day. Contrary to my thinking, he told me to go to the sacristy to dress up and serve at the mass. From that day on till I finished VIII grade I served as an altar boy every day with so much of dedication. Immediately after I completed my VIII grade, an SVD priest who was assigned to our village to undergo pastoral experience asked me whether I wanted to become a priest. When I expressed my desire to go to seminary to my family, they were surprised, since I was the last of the five children and naturally the most loved child of the family. Yet my persistence won my family’s approval.
Till I completed my high school I did not pay much attention to academics. My mind was filled with sports. I was good at volleyball, soccer, basketball and swimming. I played for my school in all these games and later for the colleges as well. However, in college, I began to pay attention to academics and soon began to top the college and the universities, winning so many gold medals and awards. Taking into consideration my excellent academic performance in different universities, our Society wanted me to be a professor in the seminary and began to train me. I was given the task of teaching Philosophy to our seminarians even while studying Theology, a very rare exception.
I was ordained to priesthood in my village on May 2, 1992. Immediately after my ordination, when one of our mission parishes was closed for a year due to some problem, I was requested by my superiors to go there for a year and to revive the parish. With the grace of God, when I succeeded to solve the problem, my superiors requested me to take up educational apostolate so that I could be always available in the mission. That proposal took me to a new direction in my field of ministry – to the field of school education and parish ministry, which I truly enjoyed. I am so grateful to my superiors who right from the beginning of my priesthood felt confident in me and entrusted to me important parishes and schools. And I think I did not disappoint them.
After my ordination, I have worked as principal of three big High Schools and pastor of five different parishes. I have worked in all these places with the same kind commitment and dedication. Of all my work, bringing Jesus back to the sanctuary in St. Joachim church is the one of which I am truly proud of. It is with the heart full of gratitude I look at every one who helped me to realize this difficult yet noble task. Naturally, St. Joachim parish is the place which I love the most. I feel greatly privileged to be the pastor in St. Joachim because of the opportunities for pastoral work as well as to be associated with so many truly committed and inspiring parishioners. Your life and commitment to Jesus challenges me and motivates me. And above all thank you so much for your love and affection. You make me feel greatly blessed.

Nota de nuestro pastor:
Nací en Kadiapatanam, un gran pueblo costero situado en la parte sur de la India. El pueblo entero fue convertido al Catolicismo por San Francisco Xavier en 1544. La gente del pueblo es muy dedicada al Cristianismo. Como la mayoría de los niños en el pueblo, yo también iba regularmente a la Misa diaria. Cuando estaba en el 4to grado, un día mientras esperaba que comenzara la Misa nuestro Pastor, viniendo del confesionario, me pidió que me levantara. Con miedo me levanté pensando que me iba a castigar por algún daño que debí haber hecho el día anterior. Contrariamente a mi pensamiento, me dijo que fuera a la sacristía a vestirme para servir en la Misa. Desde ese día, hasta que terminé el octavo grado, serví como Monaguillo todos los días con tanta dedicación. Inmediatamente después de completar mi octavo grado un Sacerdote SVD, quien fue asignado a nuestra aldea para someterse a una experiencia pastoral, me preguntó si quería ser Sacerdote. Cuando le expresé mi deseo de ir al seminario a mi familia, se sorprendieron, ya que yo era el último de los cinco hijos y, naturalmente, el hijo más querido de la familia. Sin embargo, mi persistencia ganó la aprobación de mi familia. Hasta que completé mi bachillerato no presté mucha atención a lo académico. Mi mente estaba llena con deportes. Yo era bueno en voleibol, fútbol, baloncesto y natación. Jugué para mi escuela en todos estos juegos y más tarde para las universidades también. Sin embargo, en la universidad, comencé a prestar atención a lo académico y pronto comencé a sobresalir ganando medallas de oro y premios. Teniendo en cuenta mi excelente desempeño académico en diferentes universidades, nuestra Sociedad quiso que yo fuera profesor en el seminario y comenzaron a entrenarme. Se me dio la tarea de enseñar Filosofía a nuestros seminaristas, incluso mientras estudiaba Teología, una excepción muy rara.
Fui ordenado Sacerdote en mi pueblo el 2 de Mayo de 1992. Inmediatamente después de mi ordenación, cuando una de nuestras parroquias de misión cerró por un año debido a un problema, mis superiores me pidieron que fuera allí por un año para revivir la parroquia. Con la gracia de Dios, cuando logré resolver el problema, mis superiores me pidieron que tomara el apostolado educacional para poder estar siempre disponible en la misión. Esa propuesta me llevó a una nueva dirección en mi campo de ministerio – al campo de la educación escolar y al ministerio de la parroquia, lo que realmente disfruté. Estoy tan agradecido con mis superiores que desde el principio de mi sacerdocio confiaron en mí y me encargaron parroquias y escuelas importantes. Y creo que no les decepcioné.
Después de mi ordenación, he trabajado como Director de tres grandes escuelas secundarias y como Pastor en cinco parroquias diferentes. He trabajado en todos estos lugares con el mismo tipo de compromiso y dedicación. De todo mi trabajo, traer a Jesús de regreso al Santuario en la Iglesia de San Joaquín, es de lo que estoy verdaderamente orgulloso. Con el corazón lleno de gratitud miro a cada uno quien me ayudó a realizar esta difícil pero noble tarea. Naturalmente, la parroquia de San Joaquín es el lugar que más amo. Me siento muy privilegiado de ser el Pastor en San Joaquín debido a las oportunidades de trabajo pastoral, así como estar asociado con tantos feligreses verdaderamente comprometidos e inspiradores. Tu vida y tu compromiso con Jesús me desafían y me motivan, pero sobre todo, muchas gracias por tu amor y afecto. Me haces sentir muy bendecido.
