An electrician did a small job, one afternoon, for a popular local restaurant. He met many of the employees and management, and he was very impressed by how friendly everyone was. He and his wife had never been there before, so the following week, they went to the restaurant for dinner. And, during dinner, the man kept men!oning to his wife how nice everyone was when he did the job there and that they almost made him feel like he was part of the crew. They had a wonderful dinner, and finished off a bo+le of fine wine. When the check came, the man was amazed at how li+le the bill was, and no!ced that the waiter had wri+en “50% Off” on the check and deducted that amount. He showed this to his wife. He men!oned just how incredibly nice everyone was at this restaurant. And even though he only worked there for just one a&ernoon, they gave him this great discount. He paid the check and thanked the waiter for the generosity of the restaurant and staff. On the way out, the man stepped into the kitchen to personally thank the chef, and shook hands with everyone on the crew (about a dozen employees), expressing his apprecia!on for the great dinner and discount. He also le& a note for the owner, thanking him, and offering him 50% off his next electrical maintenance job. On his way out the door, he thanked the maitre d’ for the generous discount. The maitre d’ then explained to him that not only did the man and his wife get the discount, but everyone else in the place did also. He said, “Sir, tonight, and every Tuesday, is ‘Half-Price Night.’ But I have to tell you that you are the only customer in the history of this restaurant to thank the en!re kitchen crew and the owner for having it…. Please come back again!” One of the a+ributes of a grace-filled life is a spirit of gra!tude. What a wondrous and glorious blessing it is to be a man/woman of gra!tude. An a-tude gra!tude ul!mately makes one to look at life with a sense of hope, joy, peace and happiness. May the New Year we have begun be filled with hope, joy, peace and happiness. May our life be filled with God’s choicest blessings.

Last year when I called my parents to wish them a happy New Year, my dad answered the phone. “Well, Dad, what’s your New Year’s resolu!on?” I asked him. “To make your mother as happy as I can all year,” he answered proudly. Then mom got on, and I said, “What’s your resolu!on, Mom?” “To see that your dad keeps his New Year’s resolu!on.”

Una tarde, un electricista hizo un trabajo pequeño para un popular restaurante local. Conoció a muchos de los empleados y managers, y quedó muy impresionado con lo amable que eran todos. Él y su esposa nunca habían estado allí antes, así es que la semana siguiente, fueron al restaurante a cenar. Y, durante la cena, el hombre estuvo mencionándole a su esposa que amable todo el mundo fue cuando hizo el trabajo y casi le hicieron sen!r como que era parte del personal. Tuvieron una cena maravillosa y acabaron con una botella de vino muy fino. Cuando llegó la cuenta, el hombre se sorprendió por lo poco que fue la cuenta y notó que el mesero había escrito “descuento de 50%” en la cuenta y redujo esa can!dad. Él le mostró a su esposa. Mencionó que increíblemente buenos eran todos en ese restaurante. Y aunque sólo trabajó allí por sólo una tarde, le dieron ese gran descuento. Pagó la cuenta y le dio las gracias al mesero por la generosidad del restaurante y el personal. A la salida, el hombre caminó hacia la cocina para agradecer personalmente al chef y estrechó la mano a todos los del personal (cerca de una docena de empleados), expresando su agradecimiento por la gran cena y el descuento. También dejó una nota para el dueño, dándole las gracias y ofreciéndole 50% de su próximo trabajo de mantenimiento eléctrico. En su camino hacia la puerta, le agradeció al maître d’ por el generoso descuento. El maître d’ entonces le explicó que no sólo el hombre y su esposa recibieron el descuento, sino también todos los demás en el lugar. Él dijo, “Señor, esta noche y todos los Martes, es noche de mitad de precio. Pero tengo que decir que es el único cliente en la historia de este restaurante que da las gracias a todo el equipo de cocina y al propietario por tenerlo… Por favor, regrese!” Uno de los atributos de una vida llena de gracia es un espíritu de gra!tud. Que maravillosa y gloriosa bendición es ser un hombre/mujer de gra!tud. Una ac!tud de gra!tud finalmente le hace mirar la vida con un sen!do de esperanza, gozo, paz y felicidad. Que el Año Nuevo que hemos empezado esté lleno de esperanza, gozo, paz y felicidad. Que nuestras vidas sean llenadas con las mejores bendiciones de Dios.

El año pasado cuando llamé a mis padres para desearles un feliz Año Nuevo, mi papá contestó el teléfono. “Bueno, papá, ¿qué es tu resolución de Año Nuevo?” Le pregunté. “Hacer a tu madre lo más feliz que pueda durante todo el año,” él respondió orgullosamente. Entonces mamá tomo el teléfono y dije, “¿Qué es tu resolución, mamá?” Ver que tu padre mantenga su resolución de Año Nuevo.
