It was the day after Christmas at a church in San Francisco. The pastor of the church was looking at the manger scene, when he noticed that the baby Jesus figure was missing from the cradle. He immediately turned and went outside and saw a little boy with a red wagon walking down the street. And in the wagon, was the figure of the infant Jesus. So he walked up to the boy and said, “Son, where did you get that little baby Jesus that’s in your wagon?” The little boy replied, “I got him from the church.” “And why did you take him?” asked the pastor. The little boy replied, “Well, about a week before Christmas, I prayed to the little Lord Jesus. I told him if he would bring me a red wagon for Christmas, I would give him a ride around the block in it.” This is one of the many beautiful stories I have read about Christmas. Everyone gets so excited about Christmas. It is the biggest time of shopping. During this season of Christmas, if you can get a parking space as you drive into the mall, well, you can count it as one of your achievements! And then when you get into the mall, you see so many people hurrying to get the best things available in the malls. They are not just for shopping for themselves. They buy things to be given as gifts to people whom they love. It is indeed a time of giving. When we give gifts to our beloved ones, what we are doing is nothing but imitating what God did to us first. He loved the humanity so much that he gave his only son as a gift to us. By being born as a human being he has brought a dignity to our human nature. In Jesus God has become man so that man might become children of God. Jesus, by his own life example has shown us how to become a child of God. What is our response to this greatest gift? What gift are we going to give to God who has given us his best? The best gift we can give to God is to take initiative to be a child of God, to look at the person next to you as a child of God – someone whom God considers so precious. If every one of us consider the other person as precious and worthy of respect, can there be hatred and war in this world? May this Christmas help me to consider my neighbor as precious and worthy of respect. May that attitude ours be our Christmas gift to God.

Christmas telegram: The preacher and his pregnant wife had left for a conference in France, forgetting to give instructions for the banner which was to decorate the hall at the Christmas Carol Concert, the following weekend. The parish secretary was astonished to receive a telegram from France which read simply: UNTO US A SON IS BORN. NINE FEET LONG AND TWO FEET WIDE. REV. AND MRS. JOHNSON.

N o t a  d e  n u e s t r o  p a s t o r :

JOHNSON.
