A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a crisp new $20 bill. There were 200 people in the room. The speaker asked them, “How many of you would like to have this $20 bill?” Hands went up all over the room. Then the speaker said, “I’m going to give this $20 bill to one of you, but first let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple the $20 bill up… and then he held it up and said, “Who wants it now?” Hand went up everywhere. “Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” He dropped it on the ground and stepped on it and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up and held it up for all to see. It was crumpled and smudged and dirty, and he said, “Who wants it now?” Still hands went up all over the place. Then the speaker said, “My friend, you have just learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. No matter how smudged and rumpled it became, it was still worth $20.” Many times in our lives, we get knocked around… dropped, crumpled, smudged, and ground into the dirt… by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. And sometimes we feel as though we are worthless and used up and of no account. But no matter what has happened… or what will happen, you will never lose your value in God’s eyes. Do you feel spiritually sick this morning? Do you have a fevered soul right now? The doctor is in the house! Jesus Christ is the Great Physician… and just as His love healed Simon’s mother-in-law, even so, His love can heal you, help you, cure you, redeem you, save you. In gratitude, you will want to serve, to help others. You will want to pass that love on to everybody you meet.

A dirty and drunken wino who was passing a Catholic Church one day, noticed a sign on the door that said: “Confessions Being Heard.” Since he had not been to confession for a long time, he staggered into the church, knelt down in the confessional and began to confess his sins. Unfortunately, his breath was so foul that the priest who was hearing confessions couldn’t stand it and decided to cut things short. “Look,” he said to the wino. “Have you murdered anybody lately?” “Nope,” the wino replied. “O.K. then,” the priest told him. “I am going to say the prayer of absolution.” Slightly puzzled, the wino staggered out of the confessional and as he was walking down the steps of the church steps, saw a fellow wino who was going into the church. “You going to confession?” The first wino asked. “Yep,” said the second wino. “Don’t waste your time,” the first wino said. “He ain’t hearing nothing today except murder cases.”

Un conocido locutor comenzó su seminario sosteniendo un billete nuevo de 20 dólares. Había 200 personas en el salón. El orador les preguntó, “Cuántos de ustedes quisiera tener este billete de 20 dólares?” Levantaron las manos por todo el salón. Entonces el orador dijo: “Voy a darle este billete de 20 dólares a uno de ustedes, pero primero déjenme hacer esto”. Procedió a arrugar el billete de $20… y luego lo levantó y dijo: “¿Quién lo quiere ahora?” Las manos se alzaron en todas partes. “Bueno”, él respondió: “¿Qué pasa si hago esto?” Lo tiró al suelo, lo pisó y comenzó a molerlo en el suelo con su zapato. Lo recogió y lo mostró a todos. Estaba sucio, manchado y arrugado, y dijo: “¿Quién lo quiere ahora?” Aún las manos se alzaron por todo el lugar. Entonces el orador dijo: “mi amigo, has aprendido una lección muy valiosa. Sin importar lo que hiciera con el dinero, todavía lo quisiste porque eso no disminuyó su valor. No importa cuán manchado y arrugado se convirtió, todavía valía 20 dólares.” Muchas veces en nuestras vidas, nos dan una paliza…tirados, arrugados, manchados y pisados en el suelo… por las decisiones que hemos tomado y las circunstancias que vienen a nuestro camino. Y a veces nos sentimos como si somos inútiles, usados y sin ningún valor. Pero no importa lo que ha pasado…o lo que sucederá, usted nunca perderá su valor ante los ojos de Dios. ¿Te sientes enfermo espiritualmente esta mañana? ¿Tienes un alma atormentada ahora? El médico está en la casa! Jesucristo es el Gran Médico… y al igual que su amor sanó a la suegra de Simón, también así, su amor puede curarte, ayudarte, redimirte, salvarte. En agradecimiento, desearás servir para ayudar a los demás. Usted querrá pasar ese amor a todos los que conoce.

Un borracho sucio que pasaba por una Iglesia Católica un día, notó un letrero en la puerta que decía: “Confesiones Son Escuchadas”. Puesto que no había ido a confesión durante mucho tiempo, tambaleando entró a la Iglesia, se arrodilló en el confesionario y empezó a confesar sus pecados. Desafortunadamente, su aliento era tan horrible que el Sacerdote que estaba escuchando su confesión no pudo soportarlo y decidió cortar la confesión. “Mira”, le dijo al borracho, “¿Asesinaste a alguien últimamente?” “No”, respondió el borracho. “Entonces O.K.”, le dijo el Sacerdote. “Voy a decir la oración de absolución”. Un poco perplejo, el borrachín se tambaleó en el confesionario y mientras bajaba por las escaleras de la Iglesia, vio que un compañero borracho iba a la Iglesia. “Vas a confesión?” El primer borrachín preguntó. “Sí”, dijo el segundo borrachín. “No pierdas tu tiempo”, dijo el primer borracho. “Él no está escuchando nada hoy, excepto casos de asesinato”.
