During the last five years, in addition to meeting the regular needs of our parish, we have carried out some important projects for the good of our parish community such as
- Renovation of restrooms = $ 5,000
- Repair of the sound system in our church = $ 13,000
- Rebuilding of the Bell Tower = $150,000
- Repair of the Rectory roof = $ 60,000
- Polishing of the pews and benches in the church = $ 33,000
- Repairing of the parking lot = $ 44,000 *
- Installation of 40 Security cameras on our church property = $ 40,000 *
- Altar & Holy Family room renovation = $ 67,000
- Installation of projectors in the church = $ 10,000
- New chairs for the church balcony = $ 3,000
- Handicap Ramp in the Rectory = $ 5,000
- Installation of New heaters for the church & hall = $ 10,000 *
- Sound system & projector in the Gym & Hall = $ 19,000 *
- New refrigerator for the Gym & Hall = $ 6,000 *
- Gym Tables = $ 5,000 *
* Amounts are shared expenses with the School.
Last year the Diocese of Oakland sent engineers to study and evaluate the facilities available and the manner in which they are maintained by all the parishes in Oakland. After going through the facilities in our parish and the manner it is maintained we were told that in terms of the facilities available and the manner it is maintained, our parish can be placed as one of the top ten parishes in the Diocese of Oakland. However, some of the new projects we have carried out which required lots of money such as rebuilding of the Bell Tower ($150,000) and the Altar & Holy Family room renovation ($67,000) have been executed out of the donation received from a few of our generous parishioners. As the pastor of St.Joachim, I express my whole hearted thanks to these generous parishioners. They could have used the money they donated to our parish for their personal enjoyment such as going for a tour or for the good of their family such as modification of their homes. But they placed the need of our parish above their personal and family considerations. What a wonderful sacrifice they have made. Their contribution has directly gone to the repair and beautification of the house of God where we come and worship God every day and particularly on Sundays. Their sacrifice has created in our church an excellent atmosphere to feel the closeness of God at the time of prayer. May their sacrifice rise like sweet incense before the Divine altar of God and may God’s choicest blessings be showered upon their families. (to be continued)

El año pasado la Diócesis de Oakland envió ingenieros para evaluar las instalaciones y el mantenimiento de todas las parroquias de la diócesis. Después de evaluar nuestra parroquia y su mantenimiento se nos informó que nuestra parroquia está dentro de las 10 mejores de la Diócesis de Oakland. Sin embargo, se debe mencionar que algunos de los proyectos que se han realizado han requerido una fuerte inversión, como la reconstrucción del campanario($ 150,000.00) y la renovación del altar y del salón de la Sagrada Familia ($ 67,000.00), que han sido realizados con el apoyo generoso de las donaciones recibidas por parte de algunos de nuestros feligreses. Como pastor de la iglesia de San Joaquín, expreso desde el fondo de mi corazón todo mi agradecimiento a estos generosos parroquianos. Ellos pudieron haber utilizado el dinero que donaron para su propio beneficio, como por ejemplo ir de paseo o redecorar sus casas. No obstante, ellos decidieron anteponer las necesidades de la iglesia sobre sus placeres personales y necesidades familiares. Han hecho un sacrificio maravilloso. Su contribución ha ido directamente a la reparación y embellecimiento de la casa de Dios, a donde venimos a adorar a Dios todos los días, principalmente los domingos. Su sacrificio ha creado en nuestra iglesia un ambiente excelente para sentir la cercanía de Dios en el momento de la oración. Que su sacrificio se eleve como dulce incienso ante el altar divino de Dios y que Dios derrame sus bendiciones sobe sus familias. (continuará.)
